Anyone up for doing our own version of this run that me, byrney and spam did a long time ago. (2003/4 i think).
Blackpool Tower to the Eiffel Tower.
At first findings it would be about £168 for 2 nights hotel, and return ferry. (1 car on ferry and 2 people sharing a room, twin or double). 1 hotel stop at calais and one in paris. but i reckon if we spoke to the hotel and maybe the ferry company and told them what we are doing, and that there will be a fair few of us, that we'd get a discount.
then there would be optional cruise and/or dinner along the river seine to see the sights and lights. thats around £70 per person.
then after the nights stay in paris, everyone can choose what they want to do the next day, drive back or stay somewhere else, see the sights etc. (leaves it open to making it a holiday for those who choose to). i know byrney is really up for this as she wants to take Elvis to France.
Im defo up for it. i worked out that if everyone put £20 a month a side (or to me for safe keeping) that would pay for ferry and hotels 4 months prior to going, then it would just be spending money, petrol, food etc to pay on top.
If all goes well, it would be nice to open it to the public the year after and have a huge convoy going!
What does everyone think?

the cheaper option is camping. one night near calais, one night near paris.
quite a few people are interested in this from the peeps ive spoken to about it. so i will get some prices together and let you all know.

yeah had a look at those and the formula one hotels, but im just thinking on a wider scale that if we do open it to other clubs the year after, we need to reccy the places that will hold 50+ guests. and i dont reckon the smaller cheap hotels will be able to house us all.
found a campsite thats 7 Euros a night right on the coast of calais town centre. only problem is apparently you can hear the boats engines, but its only a stopover as the paris campsite is far far nicer. 47 Euros a night with booking fee. we might be able to just pay for the one booking fee if we book as a group. (but we can ask for discounts wherever possible)

I'm up for that.
It's the 15th anniversary of the club in 2012, would be a nice way to celebrate

I have stayed in loads of formula 1 places in France and they are big places and I reckon there is enough room for the club also they are cheap and a nice place to stay for the night

yeah, they are good, ive stayed in them too. just looked at the calais formula one and it has 79 rooms. so i guess that would do considering most rooms take 3 people. i guess we'd have to have a limit on the number of people wanting to come? ?? the campsite has over 200 pitches tho. will have to all get together and decide.

John's friend at work has given us a leaflet for a camp site right next to Versailles. (20minutes from gay Paris!) Got camping and a kind of YMCA if people don't want to slum it! EURO7/night!
Will bring leaflet to club tomorrow!

Is it called Huttopia? I stopped in that one a couple of years ago, they had only just opened it at the time, very nice it was too, It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but you can walk into town in 5 minutes, they have little wooden chalets to rent out as well.
