For Sale, 1994 Mini Cooper SPi Rolling Shell.
This shell still has all the rot that is usually associated with these late model cars, but, is surprisingly good in many of the areas where they are normally bad. The bloke before me has butchered it a little, but it is in no way unfixable. There is not one repair patch or replacement panel on this car, it is still all original and as you would like to find it, other than the rot. The boot floor has been cut out, the rear bumper seam/ lip has been cut off, rear valance cut off but the corners and closing panels still there, the front panel bumper lip and number plate brackets have been cut off, the passenger door frame has had the inner panel cut out completely and the drivers door frame has had some cuts in an effort to do the same. One sill has been cut at, in the rear bin area, but nothing that cannot be fixed
The shell is perfectly straight, no crash damage and no dings in the roof, both rear quarters true with no dings.
General rot areas are, both wings/ windscreen scuttles, upper dash rail, both A panels, passenger side inner flitch panel around demist vent, driver side may have similar, both sills inner/ outer, boot floor, boot hinge panel, front panel may be salvagable, slight rot hole in floor panel by tunnel where heat sheild mounting screws were.
Good points. Both A posts look solid, doors still attached, door steps and lower rear quarters solid, maybe an odd legion of rot on the drivers door step.
Shell is fitted (loosley) with a genuine SPi rear subframe and running gear. Passenger side radius arm is at a weird angle, susspect the car it came off (NOT this one) suffered some sort of impact. The frame bolted onto this shell very easily and a general measure around could indicate that it is eather the radius arm or the stub axle that is bent. Again, this frame is not from this car originally, there is deffo no accident damage in this shell. Front subframe is again loosely fitted, is an earlier frame with the straight front stretcher bar.
Car is on SORN and on a private plate of no real value or significance, could be transfered back to the age related plate for a charge by DVLA.
Car needs to be trailered away. The only brakes that work is the hand brake. Every wheel is binding to some degree, but it deffo rolls with a push. steering column and rack pressent as is the pedal box. I have other parts for this car in the garage I will throw in with it, as I won't need them anymore. These will include two un butchered doors (may need a little work) and a boot lid bought from Paul Wiginton last year. Other parts from memory are brake servo, head lights and bowls, i'll need to check the rest.
Basically what you are buying is a shell that has had no previous welding bodges that would need fixing, solid areas that are normally rotted out, and is as straight as it can be for its condition.
Located not far from junction 21 M6 Warrington south.
Needs a good home as this one hasn't got the time for it, and I need the cash to get the white one into paint
A host of pictures to follow showing best I can the true condition of this shell. I have nothing to hide. I'll say only one thing, there are not many Mini shells left that have not had any welding done on them what so ever showing the true natue of the rot. This is a naked lady so you can see exactly what you are buying.
Viewing welcome by appointment.
