Hi, guys. I've just picked up a '72 with a 1275 engine in. I got it home and, because the battery wasn't too good, put another one on. Sadly, when I tried to restart it, the fuel pump didn't activate.
I checked the fuses in the box and they're fine but it may have an inline fuse that I can't find. (The previous owner didn't know as it was fitted before he bought it)
Should it matter:
the new battery is far more powerful than the one it replaced (more cranking amps) both batteries are 12v the fuel pump is an SU electric (with points). I can get a picture, if required.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Neill

Is the earth any good on the pump? Is it an external pump? Have you tried tapping it gently with the ignition switched on?

Hi, Matt. Thanks for your response. Bit of a ghost-town this place. :/
I've sorted it now; all the wiring was fine, it just needed a bloody good clean inside.
I'll probably replace the pump, or the electronics module inside (it wasn't on points, it had been converted), just to be on the safe side.
Cheers.
