So I am having trouble getting my mini running, i have just bought it and it has been stood for a year or so. The car runs when fuel is fed manually in to the back of the carb with a funnel and a piece of pipe. I have tried replacing the carb and it still has the same problem. I have taken the fuel supply pipe off and i know there is fuel getting to the carb but it just doesnt seem to be getting though it, this has happened with both the carbs I have tried. We have drained the fuel tank and put fresh fuel in, everything else seems to be in good working order. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers Tim

have you put oil in the dashpot of the carb? You could have an air leak on the inlet manifold or on the carb / manifold but even then i would expect it to at least stutter. Is there any chance you can get hold of a known working carb to try? Do the plugs get wet after cranking for a while? is fuel actually leaving the carb? If it is try retard the timing a little.

All points to a weak fuel pump, or like Matt says a major air leak. Blowing out fuel lines and carb with compressed air could help

where abouts could there be an air leak? do you think i should replace the fuel pump? when you crank it a good amount of fuel is coming from the fuel supply pipe

fuel seems to be getting into the float chamber but no further..... the spark plugs arent wet when you crank it..... confused?

sounds like a blocked jet in the top of the float chamber not allowing fuel into the chamber, or blocked needle jet not allowing fuel into the carb throat
